Challenging nations: tongue-ties & firebacks |committee report | day 3

 By Gopika Shree

The day began with prepared delegates awaiting for the  exciting proceedings to unfold and began with Spain , New Zealand , Germany and France addressing their GSL. There followed a unmoderated caucus , nations argued , nations formed allies and press committee extracted every information possible from delegates , when caught free.  Then the delegates were given choice to opt the following proceeding .  delegates decided to have challenges and the committee today witnessed the extent of fierce challenges .  many countries participated in the challenges upon the suggestion of the chairs to explore every aspects of SMUN , yet Turkey and United Kingdom found themselves in the middle of many challenges , the challenging nations did not leave out any questions unasked . the frequent pull of Turkey and United kingdom into challenges is a mere reflection of the active participation of delegates of Turkey and UK in the UNGA room.

One of the notable challenges was between UK and Russia, where the UK staright up denied allegations made by Russia . and towards the end ,Russia made a frank statement open to all nations , calling out each of their law framework and policies that did not  come to light earlier.

Following  the lunch, it was time for resolution proposal.  Almost most countries had submitted the resolutions but on account of running short of time , only few of the resolutions were discussed . however the resolutions sounded certain to bring about huge changes. With a voting procedure , and passing of resolutions authored by Cambodia ,Canada and somalia  the SMUN came to an end .
