Interview Report

Interviewed by Karishma, Fox News

Somalia:

(Q)How is Somalia working with neighbouring countries and international organisations to

help refugees?

Somalia has been actively working with neighbouring countries and international organisations

to address the issues of refugees, returnees, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). The country

has witnessed a large influx of refugees, particularly from neighbouring countries, and has

received international aid and support to cope with this crisis. Somalia emphasizes the

importance of cooperation with international bodies and other nations to facilitate the safe return

and reintegration of refugees. The government, alongside NGOs and international organisations,

is committed to providing essential support to refugees, including humanitarian aid, shelter, and

access to basic services. The focus remains on creating a more stable and peaceful environment

that would encourage the sustainable return of refugees and provide the necessary resources to

accommodate them.

France:

(Q)With whom has France partnered with to help refugees? Can you elaborate on the

seperate budget for refugees.

France has forged collaborative partnerships with several important partners internationally in

supporting refugees, which includes working with countries like Russia, Germany, the UK, and

the United States to align on their intentions to support refugees. France has put in place separate

plans and programs which are focused specifically on providing services for refugees, which

include, but are not limited to, providing the necessary service of shelter and education.

Particular attention is paid to vulnerable categories, as the French government designates 29

euros for disabled refugees. France's commitment is holistic to refugees, addressing urgent

humanitarian concerns as well as work on long-term integration. This varied support is quite

valuable in providing refugees with a chance to regain their life with dignity and security.

Bangladesh:

(Q)What is the major obstacle that you face in helping the refugees? What steps have you

taken to overcome it?

In Bangladesh, refugee support is an issue. The major concern is capacity, available space and

economic resources. Bangladesh is already trying to manage its own economy and

accommodating refugees just deepens the issue. Bangladesh is trying to stabilize its economic

issues, particularly in terms of increasing export growth. If the country's economy improves, this

would facilitate Bangladesh's capacity to support refugees. The government also understands that

without engaging in long-term development efforts at some point there will be a need to improve

Bangladesh's infrastructure and service provisions. Bangladesh is under a lot of pressure to

balance its aspirations for development with the needs of the refugee population.
